Hello all, I am graphic designer who has only worked with print for the last 5 years, always wanted to get involved with websites and using dreamweaver and flash, I appreciate a good website.

I am hoping I can learn a lot from joining this forum, as my job is now becoming more website demanding and I am tired of turning work away.

I have read a lot of tutorials but what I am really looking for is some advice on how to start building a website, I can design the sites fine in Illustrator or Photoshop but would love to be able to do this in DWMX, any advice on fundimentals of building websites would be really appreciated.

Thanks
Wayne

Thanks kate, still not so sure what I can learn from these though, like I said I am complete novice, not sure whether to open them in DW and also how to edit them, can you give me a few tips on the first thing you need to do when preparing a site.

Thanks
Wayne

Hya,
First thing is draw on paper what you want for your web site, gives you some idea of the software you need for your creations i.e pshop, Flash. open Dreamweaver and define your site by creating a folder on your harddrive, call it what you like at this stage it really does'nt matter. mine is called kate_new_site. now put everything you create in this folder to use later. all images, all code just everything.

Do not delete once your site has been defined out of Dreamweaver all deletions must be done in the software. then create new and put on the page what you like. each time you add something look at the bottom of the screen at the properties inspector. also in your defines site to the right in DW you'll see all the files thats in your local folder which you created put the page in DW in design and code view then you can drag from dw site folder.

Click files to your right wayne and you'll see whats in your folder in DW

Is the something specific you want to know wayne?

Just ask one of us.
