I just wan't a simple little crappy web page with a banner, 5 buttons, 2 scroll boxes, and a flash picture. I already have the code. I just don't know how to make it all nice and clean and able to view in more than just internet explorer. It looks really bad in firefox and opera, can dreamweaver help me?

you can see the page here

Hya,
First of all is that your error page because I don't like looking at those kind of links there are better ways of creating a 404.

If you google dreamweaver there are millions of help web sites for you, its not something you can learn over night. what your asking is for someone to put it all together for you, we will help cartainly but not do the job.

Now start with your first question. have you defined your site in Dreamweaver thats the first step.

:)

no, this page is for fun...define, no whats that...i already started messing around with dreamweaver and made my page crossbrowser compatable and i checked it in IE, firefox, and opera...but I need the code out of it for my page, cause when I went to add the pictures to my page, it messed it all up and looked like crap again in all the browsers.

Heres my website and my real "error" page

Another thing I might add is there are some restrictions on what kind of HTML you can use at this site. From what I know so far, everything has to be old-fashoned coding by hand...you cannot up-load files to this site or transfer HTML from another site...basicly I just wanna make my page so it works in ALL browser, then its done pritty much.

You may enter HTML/DHTML or CSS in any text field.
Javascript is not allowed.
Do not use HTML/CSS to cover the banner add

Whats that mean...its an error page, I only use the site for file hosting, and the reason you see that page is because I have a since of humor and I didnt want the default page the site gives you, and its not even the page I want help with. Look, I came here for help, not because a few of you don't like the content of my web pages. So can I have help please, if not please tell me now so I don't waste anymore of my time or yours.

I'm not asking for someone to do the work, I'm limited by what HTML I can use in this page I'm working on, and like I said already in this thread, I cant upload files to this site or transfer from another site, it has to be done by hand (I was hoping to cheat a little using dreamweaver and copy code from there) I already saved the page Im working on to my desktop, I then opened in dreamweaver, edited it so it looked good in IE, Opera, and Firefox...but when I added (only) the code from dreamweaver that pertains to my page...to my page I had tables and colors that wernt sapposed to be there, also, because the thing was edited on my desktop, all the graphics didnt show up on my page, so I changed the desktop URL's to my image host URL's, that messed my page up even more. To be honest, I think dreamweaver is way over complicated and why anyone would buy this garbage is beyond me, its almost as bad as MIRC, another overly comlicated program. And it takes up WAYYYY to much ram. As far as dreamwaver forums go, I did google it, I typed "dreamweaver forums" and I only saw a one or two that seemed directly related to dreamwaver, all the others just seem to be about certain aspects of the program and or other products by macromedia.

Oh well forget it, no one knows...screw it I guess, if ya view my page in opera or firfox and it looks like crap tough luck, both those browsers suck anyway.

You can't use Dreamweaver like that. first you must define your site, everything you want to upload *IF you work in DW then it must be defined in a folder within DW and not be deleted outside of DW.

So you create a folder on your desktop call it pheaker site1 or something. after that all files and images must be in that folder. if you delete any folders you must open DW and delete from there. that is your first lesson..lmaoooo

Sounds like the people at macromedia need to further refine there product in cases of such instances like this. As far as defining a page, I have no idea what you are talking about, sounds like you speaking another language to me...like when you see a DR. and he spits out all these medical terms you don't understand. What happend to the good o'l days when you just clicked your mouse and the program did everything for you...*shakes head*

(KATE QUOTE)"So you create a folder on your desktop call it pheaker site1 or something. after that all files and images must be in that folder. if you delete any folders you must open DW and delete from there. that is your first lesson..lmaoooo"

And like I said, how am I sapposed to use this program if the site I'm using don't allow you to upload files or transfer them? I never deleted the folder that was created on my desktop, I simply took the code from dreamwaever and placed it on my page. Nothing changed when I added the code to my page, only the URL's. Sounds to me like this program is worthless for what I'm trying to do and I shouldnt even be here, and if thats the case my sincer apologys to all in the forum for wasting your time and effort.

Thank god I didn't pay for the full version of this program and got it free, then I'ed really be pissed!

I think you're simply using the wrong software for the job.
If you want a point-and-click solution, then don't use dreamweaver.
If you don't want to read the manual, don't use dreamweaver.
If you don't want to use an advanced web design software, don't use dreamweaver.
makes sense? :P

Truthfully, there's a tool for each job, and it sounds like you're using the wrong tool.

Sorry if I caused offence - I was just warning other people that when they clicked on the link it was, after a few seconds, going to shout 'Mother-F*cker' out of their speakers!

I think I'm not being unreasonable in suggesting that a number of people on this site are browsing it whilst at work - and I personally don't want my boss hearing things like that.

Hence the 'Not work-safe' , as in it might not be a good idea to look at it whilst at work.

Exactly Kay!

No apology needed, there are tons of ways to display an error page - thats not one of them.
