My site contains over 8000 html and 250 php pages. Ervery change I make, the system has to reload it's cache. I use Dreamweaver MX 2004 on Mac OS X with 512MB of Memory and a G5 processor. Is there a way to load cache faster or is it because of the large amount of files?
Every startup of Dreamweaver cache is being recreated and when shutting down Dreamweaver is extremely slow.

Thanks in advance

The Cache is a DB with all the links of your website.
Did you consider not recreating the cache every time you start up / shut down?

If not, there's no way I know of speeding it up. On smaller sites it takes seconds, on larger ones minutes, that's just the nature of the beast..

Is it an option that I should disable, so Dreamweaver would not recreate cache every time?

Site >> Manage Site

Select Your Site and Click "Edit"

Click on "Advanced" Tab

Click "Local Info"

Uncheck "Enable Cache"

You should look at a better database driven solution for your site, 8000 html pages v/s only 250 php pages is too much
