View Full Version : Window with scoll bar

I have started to design a band website with a friend. We want to put a window on the page that as you click on each of the menu items it changes to that page (news etc). We want this to have a scroll bar on it and be transparent. Please can you advise the best way of doing this?

Thanks, Martin

Hi Martin,
Your description is a little vague, and there's several ways you could approach this. Is there a website/page with an example of what you are trying to achieve?

Hi Martin,

It's done with a standard HTML tag <iframe> which stands for inline frame.

You can read about it at
http://www.htmlhelp.com/reference/html40/special/iframe.html ('http://www.htmlhelp.com/reference/html40/special/iframe.html')

I'm not sure how well various browsers support it.

Another way of creating the same effect with a scrollable area, is to open you bag of CSS tricks. Any block element in HTML can be scrollable by setting the height of the element absolutely, and then use overflow: auto. Read more about scrollable areas with CSS ('http://www.domedia.org/oveklykken/css-div-scroll.php').
