View Full Version : swf not showing up in browser

I have embedded a swf (I used Flash MX) in an html document using Dreamweaver 4 and when I uploaded it to the server, the swf is not showing up but only a Shockwave logo appears in the center of the browser. Then I was prompted to download the Shockwave 10 plugin, which I did.

But when I open the swf file using Flash player, it's fine. Only a few days ago
it was working perfectly, in a browser, embedded in the html document.

Suddenly this problem cropped up!

However, when I publish the flash file, and it generates it own html code, using that html file to view it with a browser, there are no problems and I can see
the movie playing.

It seems that embedding the swf file in Dreamweaver is not possible. Using the html generated file by Flash itself is fine.

What seems to be causing this? Please help!

hi niner6,
DW4 is old, you really should upgrade your software.

Without seeing the actual code in question, it's hard to determine what is wrong, do you have a url where we can see the non-working code?

hi domedia,

thanks for the reply. actually the problem wasn't showing up a few days before I made this post. it was working just fine.

what I did however was to use the html Flash generates when publishing the site.
But when I use Dreamweaver, that's when the swf doesn't show up.

In Dreamweaver, I tried to embed it in a table, or outside a table. Either way, it's not showing up when previewed in a browser.

I used the html Flash generated to publish the site. It's here:

http://newstuff.softique.net ('http://newstuff.softique.net')

It's working obviously so I'm not sure if you'll find anything wrong with it.
it's plain html and css. nothing heavy.
